Pragmatic Solutions, Inc announces Syspedia Software debut at DAMA Conference and support for Sarbanes-Oxley control documentation and remediation.

Pragmatic Solutions: Syspedia Software will be Unveiled at DAMA
International Conference – Turns Programmatic Business Rules
    Harvesting into Value for Sarbanes-Oxley.

Alexandria, Virginia - -  May 16, 2005 — Pragmatic Solutions, Inc. a leading IT database services provider and provider of cross-platform metadata management solutions, announced that Syspedia will be show-cased at the DAMA International Conference in Orlando, Florida May 22-26.  Syspedia will be at booth #323, and its founder Dave Beulke presents on the topic of “Gaining Data Element Insights” on Wednesday, May 25 at 10AM.

“We are pleased to see that Pragmatic Solutions is participating as both a products vendor and subject matter expert speaker”, said Tony Shaw program chairman of Wilshire Conferences, http://www.wilshireconferences.com/MD2005/index.htm.

“Attracting new solution providers to participate at the conference is testimony that this is the premier data management conference”.

“Sarbanes-Oxley Sections 302 and 404 require companies to identify key business processes and any vulnerability in their controls”, said David Beulke founder and president of Pragmatic Solutions, Inc.  “Compliance teams need the ability to find existing controls embedded in application code to understand their parameters and usage for both documentation and when required, remediation”.

Syspedia is a new generation of innovative enterprise software solutions that allows corporations to easily find and identify existing business rules and controls across all enterprise computing platforms.  By quickly understanding the actual business rules and controls that exist in current computer software programs, defining new rules or controls can quickly be incorporated into existing governance, and extraneous or duplicate controls removed that waste precious resources.

Take the example of a company restating earnings because of accounting issues.  Auditors uncovered an overcharging of state sales tax for customer purchases.  Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requires understanding of the taxation controls and process.  Using Syspedia in this example, you can quickly research and analyze the tax data elements and application processing code through a secured web interface to understand the tax tables used to calculate the tax amounts.  Research showed that the application was using the default tax rate and not properly adjusting the tax rate for the customer’s state.  Syspedia helps the compliance team document the taxation process and the controls that are in the application code so problems like this are avoided in the future.
